Langøre and Stauns

The small idyllic fishing village is beautifully situated at the entrance to Stavns Fjord. The fjord is protected and is a breeding ground for eider ducks. The harbor area accommodates both dinghies and larger pleasure boats, and some of them often lie at anchor. The island's rowing club is also located in Langør.

The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, and an evening on the terrace at Smoke House with smoked shrimp and a glass of cool wine adds an extra dimension to the sunset. To the east, you can see Besser Rev and the island Kyholm, where there used to be a quarantine station, a commander's house, and 100 employees. The fortifications at Lilleør, on the reef, and on Kyholm effectively guarded the area.

Just north of Langør, you will find the island's nature school, which has plenty of activities for all ages in the area. Try the walk up to the hill Grønhøj and enjoy the beautiful view from there. A little further ahead, you can visit Langør Chapel - one of the most popular places to get married, perhaps because of the magnificent view from the church stairs! 2 km to the west, you will find the narrowest point on the island with only 50 meters between the east and west coasts.

Here in the famous canal, which was excavated in the 8th century, a copy of the Ladbyskipet has now been placed, making it easy to imagine how the fleet's ships could be quickly moved from east to west and save the Danes a long journey by sea. All along the heath to the north, you will find wonderful sandy beaches on the west coast.
